A score of years ago, our Founder brought forth upon this continent a Rescue dedicated to saving the lives of shelter cats and dogs. As we celebrate this 240th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, and continue our efforts to form a more purrfect union, establish justice for homeless cats, provide for the common defense of abandoned kitties, promote the general welfare of felines and secure the blessings of liberty to our cats (so long as they don't go outside), let's take a moment to remember and cherish what our fourfooted - ah, forebearers have taught us:
Ask not what your cat can do for you, ask what you can do for your cat...
-John F. Katnnedy
Patriotism is like charity, it begins at home (preferably with a plate of tuna and a nap).
Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady devotion of a lifetime. Sort of like spending an entire morning stalking a mouse.
Patriotism is easy to understand in America; it means looking out for yourself by looking out for your cat.
Under the law of nature, all cats are born free, every one comes into the world with a right to his own purrson...This is what is called purrsonal liberty, and is given him by the Author.
- Thomas Jeffercat
And so, this July weekend, we give thanks to our volunteers who give up their time to staff our events so that the greatness of this nation can be shared with each and every cat.
